Micah 6:8

Josh and Beth Paulick on February 16, 2014

"He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8 (ESV)

A while back we mentioned this verse in one of our updates and this month brings it to mind again. In the month of January we spend a fair amount of time giving attention to the right to life. After reading Micah 6:8 about a year ago I started asking the question “what does it mean to ‘do justice?’” As I studied justice, I found that the biblical principal of justice involves taking care of those that cannot take care of themselves and protecting those that cannot protect themselves. More than once justice is mentioned in Deuteronomy in association with provisions for the fatherless and sojourner. Working to protect the unborn is just one way of fulfilling our call to do justice.  Beth is hoping to have some part of protecting the unborn while in Togo, whether through good prenatal care or even care in the arrival of the baby.  Beth is hoping to start volunteering at the pregnancy center here in Cambridge.  Please pray with us that things will work out with trying to find childcare and for opportunities to share Christ’s love in this way.

January has been a busy month for Josh at work. Cabin fever made it a difficult month for Beth and the kids because it was so cold here that it was hard to get out. For February we are looking forward to a trip to California for Josh to take a course in humanitarian surgical care at Stanford and then we will take some time for family time while we are out West.
