Be Content

Josh and Beth Paulick on January 25, 2018

“I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me.  You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity.  11) Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.  12) I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.”  Philippians 4:10-12.  It is so amazing to me that Paul wrote these words while in prison.  I wish I could say that I have learned to be content in every situation, but it is definitely something God is working on with us :).  We were able to go back to Cedarville University to hear one of our teammates speak during the week of the missions conference.  (It was very powerful if you have a chance to listen, here is the link.)  While we were there, however, we met a family doctor who had been a missionary to the Congo for many years.  While talking to him, he told me to “have fun with this time,” speaking of our pre-field ministry.  He said, have fun while you’re driving to churches and your toddler vomits in the backseat, and they're screaming because they are tired.  It’s funny to think about having “fun,” but in James (1:2) it says, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds.”  It got me to think about that while it isn’t “fun” in the moment, it is fun, because it’s happening while we get to go and share about the vision and ministry we are so excited to do in Togo and have been ministered to and so humbled by the graciousness we have been shown in so many churches!
We have so much to be thankful for!  We had a wonderful Christmas with time spent with family. Although we didn’t quite get our goal of 80% by December 31st, we did by the middle of January!  God has provided 81% of our minimum monthly funds we need to raise through ABWE.  We hope to be at 90% by February 15th!  (This would be about 7 people or churches at $100/month or 15 people/churches at $50/month.)  We have a picture of our updated puzzle.  Each piece now represents $30/month of our monthly support requirement through ABWE.  If you would like to hear more about our vision for our ministry we would love to be able to share with you.  Please let us know and we would love to get together!  Although we hope to be at 90% in February, if we are going to attend the next training, we have to be at 85% by the beginning on April. Our ultimate goal is to be at 100% of the minimal support requirement through ABWE by the end of April.

81% 81% of our monthly support

We also had some surprising news.  We found out in November that we are expecting another baby.  Our baby is due July 21st.  We are praying that he or she will not affect our plans very much and are confident it won’t change our schedule of leaving for language school in August.  If we are at 100% of our requirements by the end of April, this will give us time to make sure we have the extra amount raised to allow for the budget increase that comes with the baby.  The kids were very excited to be having a new brother or sister (although Avery is praying for a sister :) ).

Prayer and Praises
1. Prayer for a healthy pregnancy for Beth and the baby.
2. Praise for the new baby that is on the way!!
3. Praise for new partners bringing us to 81% of our monthly requirements for ABWE.
4. Pray that the Lord would continue to raise up new financial partners
