Faith like a mustard seed

Josh and Beth Paulick on September 7, 2017

We have been so blessed to be able to be back at our sending church, Washington Heights Baptist Church for the last few weeks and were so touched by the messages from Pastor Josh Tuttle.  He has been talking about “Knowing God” and one of the weeks he spoke from Matthew 17.  The disciples were trying to cast out a demon from a boy and were not successful.  Jesus cast out the demon, and then verses 19-21 say, “Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” He said to them, “Because of your little faith.  For truly I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.””  Pastor Josh went on to talk about how we so often look so much at the mountain that we lose sight of the mustard seed and the faith that we need to trust God and His plans.  This especially touched our hearts right now we and trying to practically live this out.  Here is the link to his message if you are interested in listening to it!  Knowing God - Part 4 - How Do We Live Our Faith Away from the Church?
Our biggest “mountain” right now is trying to get our house in Kettering sold. We just officially got our house in Cambridge on the market, so we are trying to get that sold as well, but we see the biggest hurdle right now being the house in Kettering.  We have been getting some questions as to the two houses, we thought we would give a little of the back story.  When we moved out of the house in Kettering in 2012, we rented the house out essentially to our church who were renting it for a family who were Rwandan refugees that had been living in Kenya and had recently come to America.  They were living in the house until September 2016.  There was some work that needed to be done on the house after they moved out and the church graciously did the repairs for us.  We were able to put the house on the market in May 2017.  We went under contract in June, but the buyers backed out a week before closing at the end of July.  It has been back on the market since then.  All this to say, we are learning now how to try to leave this “mountain” in God’s hands and know that He has a perfect timing and reasoning for everything.  On another note, the house in Cambridge is now under contract (after being on the market for a week!).  Please pray that everything continues to move forward.
We are so excited for everything that God is doing right now!  We decided to move into the apartment to make it easier to continue showing our house, hoping it would help it sell.  The kids started school at Dayton Christian and are loving their time there!  Avery goes two full days to Preschool and has cried the days she doesn’t get to go that Elijah goes to Kindergarten.  I’m trying to take that as a good sign.  Elijah is going to 5 full days of Kindergarten and has learned so much already!  His first memory verse was Psalm 25:4 “Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.”  I enjoyed getting to practice it with him.  Isaiah doesn’t seem to know what to do with himself the days the other two are at school.  The first day we got home he said, “Where Eli?” “Where Avery?”  We celebrated Isaiah's second birthday August 31st!  I still can't believe he's already 2!

Also, we are at 77% of our monthly support officially!  We have a few verbal commitments we are still waiting to come through and hopefully after they do we will have reached our goal to be at 80% by August 31st!  Our next goal is to be at 90% by September 30th!  We are still moving forward with trying to get to language school for the January class. We have a training at ABWE headquarters October 31st-November 9th as long as we are at 85% by October 16th.  September we will be busy with Josh finishing up his call schedule.  He's on call quite a bit at the beginning of the month and his last call day will be September 26th.  Beth will be attending a women's conference in Indianapolis at the end of the month.  Here is our updated puzzle!  Each piece represents $25/month of our montly support needed.  Please let us know if you are interested in partnering with us monthly and we would love to share more about our ministry!
